- During a lawful tenancy, a landlord cannot consent to search your room.
- Claims by officer’s that “we have a search warrant” or “we’ll be back with a search warrant” can make your consent involuntarily and invalid.
- Consent obtained during an unlawful detention is invalid.
- Consent can be limited.
- Consent can be revoked.
- Officers are not required to inform you of your right to refuse consent.
